“I sought the LORD, and He heard me, and delivered me from all my fears.” (Psalms 34:4)
Illness or big life changes can often caught us off guard. Fear, is the most common yet damaging emotion to these unexpected challenges, even the most devout Christian may feel this way sometimes.
While we may be overwhelmed by fear (at first), it is not wise to dwell in negative thoughts until we forget God’s divine power and unchanging mercy. Remember, God is bigger than any of our problems or illnesses just as how the Bible reminds us:
“You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.” (1 John 4:4)
If you are battling fear right at this moment, try to stay calm and remind yourself God is in control of your life. Encourage yourself (or your family member/friend who is ill) with the words of God, pray to uphold all your anxiety to Him. Tell God how you feel and ask Him to relieve your fears.
This scripture is also a great reminder to us that God is always close by whenever we needed Him. ‘Seek the Lord’ in order to be saved. Get rid of your doubts and resentments; instead, regain your faith in God by recalling the times you’ve been saved and the hardships you’ve overcome with His help in the past. Positivity and hope can bring tremendous relief, thus a big help to your path of recovery.
Nothing is easy from the start. But bear in mind that nothing is impossible with God.
