“He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” (Isaiah 40:29)
Unlike us mortals, our God neither gets weak nor tired. However, a small problem or disease can easily push the healthiest, strongest man over the edge due to depression and hopelessness.
For someone who’s in sickness, it’s easy to feel frustrated when there’s (slow or) no sign of healing progress whatsoever. There’s nothing much we can do besides offering as much moral support and encouragement as possible. Don’t be surprised even the most optimistic person may ignore your comfort, because only those who had been in his or her shoes know the unspeakable helplessness and pain.
But the story doesn’t end here. Our gracious God has a promise to all those who are in sickness and weak in spirit:
“But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” (Isaiah 40:31)
God’s divine power is the source of our strength. He will never ignore our cries of help to Him. So when you’re under massive pressure and don’t think you could go on, bear in mind that God can renew your strength if you pray to Him. Don’t doubt, just believe. Worry won’t make your problems go away. Instead, have patience and learn to find hope in God’s love. His promises and healing will come to pass eventually.
